today. >> meanwhile, president obama's technology chief getting grilled on capitol hill today over all the problems plaguing that health care exchange website. talk about laying an egg. eamon javers live in washington. >> hi, tyler. it's been a tough hearing up here on capitol hill for the obama administration officials here testifying, testy at times within the committee hearing room. members of congress fighting about who gets to ask which question, who's insulted who's staff. but one of the key questions they keep coming back to over and over again is exactly how long is it going to take to fix and will the administration be able to hit the november 30th deadline it has publicly set for itself. the administration officials haven't been able to give a good answer to that question today. take a listen to things exchange. >> are we going to hit november 30th? >> thank you for the question. thank you for your kind words at the beginning as well. so the goal that has been laid out is for the site not to be perfect by the end of november -- >> functional, people can log on?

regarding obama care. john? >> tyler, the obama administration about to announce a delay in the on-line sign-up for small businesses on obama care. there will be direct enrollment for those small businesses. they can get health care under obama care with the tax credits that the law provides, but they're trying to limit the amount of tasks that they have to deal with in terms of getting the on-line experience acceptable for consumers. they've got that november 30th deadline to say that the site is working smoothly for the vast majority of customers and they've put this off to the side. the separate exchange for small businesses. that function is being put off for one year. there will be paper enrollment, phone enrollment through insurance companies directly, insurance agents and brokers, but it's another sign of the challenge the administration is facing in getting that website which has been so troubled since its october 1 debut to get up and running for everybody in the country. >> john harwood, thank you very much. let's transition back to some of the topics that we've been

that president obama has been briefed on the situation, not a surprise, lax being a huge international hub and the threat and fear of terrorism. we have no idea what this was all about, what the motivation was here or really what happened to the suspect or the shooter himself, if he is in custody, killed, shot, wounded, we're still waiting on that information but the president and the white house did release this statement saying the president has been briefed about the shooting at lax. we'll continue to stay in touch with our federal and local partners. the lapd is leading the response and investigation. we urge citizens to listen to the authorities and follow directions from the first responders on site. the president will continue to receive briefings throughout the day. while the lapd may be leading this investigation at the moment this is a multiagency effort -- >> that's knbc's coverage, shots fired at terminal three at los angeles international airport. the terminal serves airtran, alaska, horizon, jetblue, and virg virgin australia. the incident is apparently over and that a shoote
